American Bulldog Pictures

It’s easy to find many American Bulldog pictures on the Internet. There are many websites of dog owners and breeders who would like to share their joy of owning purebred American Bulldogs with others. Every dog breed has its own personality and working abilities, because every breed originated for a specific purpose. American Bulldogs preserve the appearance of the original Bulldog used for bull baiting in the 19th century. While the English Bulldog has changed much after the blood sport of bull baiting was banned, the American Bulldog stay agile, athletic, and tall. The only thing that changed much is their personality. American Bulldogs are no longer fierce bull baiters, but affectionate and loving pets and companions for sport.

This breed has no AKC recognition, but it can be registered by a number of other kennel clubs and associations: ARF, ABA, UKC, NKC, CKC, NKC, ARBA, NABA, JDJB, ABCC, AABC, APRI, and ACR. Most registries classify this breed into a Mastiff group. American Bulldog pictures feature medium-sized dogs standing between 20 and 28 inches at the withers and weighing from 60 to 125 pounds. These dogs are stocky, well-muscled, and well-proportioned. Like in all Bulldogs, the head and jaws of the American Bulldog are large and massive. The chest and shoulders are wide and powerful; the neck has a slight dewlap. The muzzle of the American Bulldog is not very short, like it’s in the English Bulldog. The face of the American Bulldog is not wrinkled.

Even in American Bulldog pictures you can see that this breed is more agile and much swifter than the English Bulldog. The appearance of the American Bulldog has no extremes that influence the health and activity level of the dog. Though English Bulldogs can be called the best example of the breeding art, American Bulldogs serve people and don’t need any special care.

American Bulldogs of today are neither aggressive to humans and dogs, nor shy. These dogs are brave, determined, alert, protective, and ready to serve the owner. Many American Bulldogs are reported to protect their families from wild animals and even from fire. The American Bulldog needs early socialization and obedience training. Like all large and powerful dogs, American Bulldogs need a strong-willed owner experienced in training. It’s not wise to buy a dog of this breed after seeing American Bulldog pictures at the breeder’s website.
